If you want to upgrade F/Ware of GCE-8523B, then you refer to the following.

Improper processing of this upgrade will damage the drive.
LG Electronics is not responsible or liable for improper installation of this upgrade.
This firmware upgrade is for firmware versions below 1.03 of the LG Branded GCE-8523B CD-RW Drives.
The ROM version is stamped on the top of the drive below the serial number.
This upgrade is not designed for drives manufactured HP, IBM, Compaq, Dell or any other OEM
{Original Equipment Manufacturer} customers, please contact the OEM for all firmware updates
and support for your OEM drive.


Please follow the hardware setup instructions below.
1.Have the CD-RW Drive connected to the secondary IDE channel as a master drive alone.
2.Do not touch or interfere with the drive while the FIRMWARE is being upgraded.
3.If an error occurs during the upgrade process, or the upgrade process is cancelled
during this process, damage to the drive can occur. This is your responsibility.
LG Cannot be held liable for mistakes or errors that occur during this upgrade process.

To upgrade Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98(only windows mode)

1. Remove inserted disc in CD-RW Drive and Connect to only master of seconary port.
2. Download the GCE-8523B103(EW).zip file and Extract the zip file to the folder(ex: c:\>temp)
3. Check the Execution file and TXT file[GCE-8523B103(win) & README(ew).TXT]
4. Excute to GCE-8523B103(win).exe

eg: c:\temp\>GCE-8523B103(win).exe (Double click)
Firmware upgrade will be automatically started

IMPORTANT- DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE DRIVE DURING THIS PROCESS.

When the UPGRADE is complete the screen should indicate FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL.
Remove the bootable disk and Re-boot your PC.

NOTICE

1.You have to cd-rw drive connect to secondary master alone.
2.Don't touch while F/ware upgrading
3.If it happen to problem when you upgrade to F/ware,it is that your responsibility.
Because of you are mistake F/Ware upgrade
Therefore you must be care for F/Ware upgrade.
